Tithing & Donations

Why does a church need money? It helps with our mission & ministry. Money is used for our mortgage, pastoral salary, health insurance, housing allowance, office expenses, maintenance, repairs, snow removal, and supplies for the operation of our church.

Thayne Food Bank

The Thayne Community Food Bank has its roots at Star Valley United Church, opening its doors in 2004 within the church building.  In 2013 the Food Bank outgrew its space and relocated to the Thayne Community Center at 250 VanNoy Parkway.  The Food Bank continues to serve many patrons and families in need of food.

Volunteers serve at the Food Bank in many different ways.  If interested in helping at the Food Bank, please call the Thayne Food Bank phone at 307-880-3663.

The Thayne Food Bank is open every Friday from 11:00am- 12:45pm.  Veteran’s Night is the 2nd Thursday of every month from 6:00-7:00pm.  Through its partnership with Feed America and Food Bank of Wyoming, the Food Bank can currently stretch each donated $1.00 eight times!  The Thayne Food Bank appreciates your consideration of donating food and/or funds to purchase food.  Thank You!

Knitting Prayer Shawls

Star Valley United Church offers hand made prayer shawls from our church and congregation.   These shawls are distributed to those who may need comfort, security, and prayer.

Women’s Group Annual Fundraiser

The Women’s Group holds their annual vivacious live auction late in the summer.  Our church attendees graciously donate items from their heart to our group for the auction.  Some of the items donated are baked goods, jams, meals, vegetables & fruits from their gardens, paintings, stained glass, pottery, leather work, quilts, clothing and woodwork just to name a few. All funds raised are used for their yearly service projects, monetary donations for disaster relief or special projects. There is always a lot of laughter, fun and energetic bidding to be had by all!

Lay Leaders and Readers

Giving your gift of service

Sunday Service a Volunteer Leader helps lead the service by reading the bulletin & directing the congregation of what song or reading is next. The Reader reads the daily prayer and scripture readings to the congregation. There’s a sign up in the fellowship hall for both. You’ll be given the readings a few days before.

Snacks for Fellowship After Service

Giving your gift of time and talent

Provide a snack, light meal, dessert or whatever you wish for the congregation to enjoy after worship while we fellowship together.
